SCUBA Diving Magazine Aloha, Maggie, Glenn and crew of Kona Honu divers, Chad and I are home in Colorado and OH so far from the ocean. I wanted to shout out a big Mahalo to all of you for making our week of diving on the Big Island such a wonderful experience. The entire crew was professional, friendly and helpful- your service is outstanding. You make diving so relaxing- I loved having my gear set up for me to check out before sitting down to enjoy the boat ride. The Manta Ray night dive was one of the high lights of our trip- it is a truly surreal experience not to be missed- next time we may have to add it to our day charters twice. I would also recommend the video "Manta Heaven" we already watched it once- it will be great to show our friends and family how cool this really was!!!!! I also wanted to send a special mahalo to Dive masters John and Cynthia and to Captains John and Frank. It was a blast diving and hanging out on the boat with all of you. Your efforts to ensure my shark and dolphin encounters didn't go unnoticed- you are the best! Hope to dive with you again soon- Aloha, Mahalo, and Hang Loose, Deb & Chad Bowman- Englewood, Colorado June '07

but is limited to 12 divers for a more specialized charter experience.
We look forward to seeing you aboard the "Honu Iki" soon.

TOP TEN REASONS TO DIVE WITH KONA HONU DIVERS. INC. Kona Honu Divers is locally owned and operated. From the moment you step into the shop or prepare to board our boat, the "Honu One", you become part of our "ohana" or family. The "Honu One", is a 46ft, custom built dive boat. It is extremely seaworthy, reliable, and has a fast, smooth ride. She offers a comfortable environment for passengers as we visit one of over 80 pristine dive sites that make the Kona coast such a great place to dive. Our custom dive boat has GPS, life jackets, 2 life rafts, fire extinguishers, USCG approved medical kit, DAN oxygen unit, cell phones, VHF etc., and UNLIKE THE SMALL 6 pack boats, is coast guard inspected and approved. On a typical charter, you are one of 10 to 12 divers sharing our spacious vessel. This is less than 50% maximum capacity. There is lots of room for divers to "stretch out". The "Honu One" has a marine head or toilet, fresh water showers, dedicated camera table, rinse tank, and lots of shade. At Kona Honu Divers, the crew takes all the work out of diving. We set up your gear while you are checking in on the dock. When it's time to dive we make entering the water extremely simple and safe. A crew member will carry your gear to the stern while you wait, seated, on one of two metal benches. All that's left is for you to strap on your tank and stride into the clear, calm Kona water. After your first dive enjoy fresh island fruit and a cool drink while the crew switches your gear over to a fresh tank. After your second dive your gear is rinsed for you as we motor back to the harbor. Our dives are guided by knowledgeable instructors who brief you on what to expect to see before you enter the water. Encounters with dolphin, turtles, and manta rays are common in the placid Kona waters and other visitors make special appearances to assure that every dive can turn into something extraordinary.
