Mantas and Whales for One Great Price! |
| The majestic humpback whales are arriving in Hawaii after their long, 3500 mile, migration from their feeding grounds in Alaska. This migration takes between 4 and 8 weeks to complete which equates to between 125 and just over 60 miles per day. The first to arrive in Hawaii are the adolescent whales, next are the adult males, followed by the adult females, and finally the expectant mothers arrive ready to give birth to their calves. |
|
Humpback whales live for up to 50 years and females give birth to a single calf every 2 to 3 years. Baby whales are 12-15' long at birth and weigh approximately 1500 lbs. Adult humpbacks can reach a length of over 50' and weigh almost 45 tons! Humpbacks get their name from the arch in their back when they are about to dive and can stay down for over 30 minutes but usually stay down for 5-7 minutes. |
