The manta ray dive or manta ray night snorkel is the number one night dive in the world and is an exhilarating underwater experience that is unique to the Kona Coast.  You'll start your adventure at Honokohau Harbor in the late afternoon and enjoy the sunset while cruising the Kona coast to the manta viewing site. Our knowledgeable and highly experienced swim guides, dive masters, and instructors will help you gear up and slip in to see these gentle giants loop, somersault, and cruise in the beams of light as they funnel the plankton into their giant mouths.

The divers will settle down on the ocean floor and shine their dive lights up to attract the plankton.  This bucket list adventure has a bottom time of 50-60 minutes, depending upon air consumption.  Snorkelers will surround a snorkel board on the surface with powerful lights pointed down to attract the plankton, and in turn attract the graceful manta rays.

  • Sign the electronic waiver, from the confirmation email, and bring certification card to the boat.

Why or when would a private guide benefit me?

  • A private guide is needed when you have a Junior Open Water that is 10-11 years of age.  Why?  Their depth restriction and their safety.
  • A private guide is needed when you are a PADI Scuba Diver.  What is a PADI Scuba Diver?  When you have only completed the first two open water dives of the open water certification.  Why?  Due to the depth restriction.
  • When you have equalization issues, i.e., take extra time to descend.
  • When you are anxious, nervous, or when you just want more personalized one on one attention.
  • When you want to go super slow and photograph all the critters.
  • When you have a group of more than 6 divers and want to dive together.
  • *Subject to availability

Manta Guarantee

Please note that the Manta Rays are wild animals and we cannot guarantee their presence. We are typically very successful in finding mantas for you; however, if they are not around, the costs involved with setting up the dive and getting all our guests to the location will not allow for us to offer you a refund.  If you do not see a manta on your night out, you can go again for free on another night on a space available, standby basis as a snorkeler within the next 12 months.  If you wish to dive you will receive a 25% discount, confirmed.  Keep in mind that these standby spaces may be extremely limited, especially during the busiest times of the year.
Our Conservation Contribution

Cancellation Policy

Please be informed of our 48-hour cancellation policy.

You may make changes or cancellations to your reservations up to 48 hours prior to the trip without penalty. Afterwards, all changes, cancellations, or no shows will not be issued a refund. The only exception to this policy will be if we receive a medical note from a local doctor for a treatment/exam which must have taken place within 48 hours of the check in time of the missed dive. This does not waive the companion diver or snorkeler.
