Join us on a Kona night reef dive to explore the reef and see all the crazy critters that come out to play. Night diving is arguably better than daytime diving. This is because many of the regular reef fish go to sleep while others come out to play. Crustaceans and mollusks are a common sighting at night as they come out of the cracks and crevices to live their best life when their predators are asleep. Octopus, squid cowry, shrimp, lobster, crabs and many more critters emerge at night. It’s amazing how many animals you don’t see during the day that suddenly emerge at night. Try night diving Kona Hawaii for a whole new diving experience.

Kona diving is Hawaii’s best scuba diving. But night diving in Kona can be even better than a daytime dive. This is because the darkness causes many of the predators that hunt during the day with their eyesight go to sleep. So their prey can come out an play! This includes but is not limited to crustaceans such as crabs, shrimps, lobsters, and hermit crabs. Mollusks such as squid, red spotted octopus, sea slugs, and nudibranchs. Some fish that are hiding in the caves during the day will come out to hunt such as squirrelfish and eels. While it is possible to spot larger animals such as manta rays at night this is not common. It’s all about the reef residents.

Night diving can be quite peaceful because there are typically no other boats and the wind is usually non-existent. Divers will get an entirely different experience to what they are used to during the day. You can use your dive light to peek into crevices that are more difficult to see into during the day. You’ll find all kinds of fascinating marine life that is nearly impossible to spot during the day.
