Sam grew up in a small town in rural NH. He became infatuated with the ocean and the wonders it holds when he became PADI Open Water certified as a boy the tender age of 12 and he has never looked back. His interests were pulled in another direction as he learned about cameras, photography, and film making.
While attending school at Columbia College of Chicago he majored in Cinema Arts + Sciences and minored in photography. In class one day he realized he could combine his two passions and work shooting photography and video under the oceans sharing what he loved with the world. This inspired him to work to attain his PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor down in Key Largo at Rainbow Reef. After working in the Keys for most of 2016 he headed off to the Big island where the big creatures are more abundant and the weather more temperate.
Utilizing his background in video production Sam has worked to produce youtube videos for Kona Honu as well as the Ocean Currents podcast where he is the executive producer.
Since arriving in Kona he has grown and discovered more about himself. While still working on his photography and video. He has begun his education in Technical diving and will be pursuing his rebreather instructor certification in 2018.
Sam has also begun planning trips for Kona Honu and himself’ His list of places he will be in the near future include Truk Lagoon, Little Cayman, Oahu for a Wreck Trek, and Kauai for Kona Honu’s second annual Ni’ihau trip. He would love to have you join him on his adventures so feel free to strike up a conversation with him about where he’s off to next and how you can join him!
His list of places to plan trips to grows by the day but currently includes; Bikini Atoll, Raja Ampat, Australia, Galapagos, Guadalupe Island, Mexico cenotes, and Bonaire to name a few of them
